About My Journey and Education

A Personal Connection to Healing

My own experience profoundly shaped my path to becoming an acupuncturist. Over five years, I regularly received acupuncture treatments during my fertility and pregnancy journey. This personal experience was transformative, offering invaluable support not just physically, but also profoundly impacting my mental and emotional well-being during what can be a challenging time. It was this first-hand understanding of acupuncture's power to heal and support that inspired me to dedicate my life to this practice.

My Academic Background

My academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from Edinburgh University. Following this, I pursued my passion for understanding human connection and emotional well-being by completing a year of intensive training in Counselling and Psychotherapy at WPF Therapy LTD. These disciplines gave me a depth of insight into the mind-body connection, both scientifically and on the human level. My formal acupuncture education involved four rigorous years of study in Classical Acupuncture at the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM), which is the longest-established acupuncture training college in the United Kingdom. ICOM's roots are firmly in the classical tradition of Chinese medicine. It is particularly renowned for its unique teaching of the Stems and Branches theory, which is what first attracted me to this training college. Stems and Branches delves into the deepest levels of disease origin by understanding an individual's unique constitutional foundations in relation to cosmic and earthly cycles. ICOM has trained hundreds of skilled acupuncturists, including prominent figures in the field such as Giovanni Maciocia, Sandra Hill, Roisin Golding, Charles Buck, and Peter Deadman. This comprehensive training provided me with a profound understanding of traditional diagnostic methods and treatment principles. Since graduating, I've proudly continued my connection with ICOM, now working as a practitioner at ICOM, contributing to the college that shaped my professional path. An area particularly close to my heart, and the focus of my dissertation, is how acupuncture, alongside Western medicine, can support mental health, specifically anxiety and depression. This deep dive into the integration of complementary and conventional approaches underpins my commitment to helping one achieve emotional equilibrium. I am a proud member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), adhering to the highest standards of professional conduct and continuous development in the UK.

INSURANCE

As a full member of the BAcC, my treatments are recognised and covered by some health insurance providers in the UK, subject to your policy and the reason for treatment.

To ensure a smooth process for claiming your costs, we strongly recommend you contact your insurer before your initial treatment.

What to Check with Your Insurer:

1. Confirm Coverage: Ensure your policy specifically covers acupuncture performed by a BAcC-registered practitioner.

2. Provide Credentials: State your practitioner's name, Lucy Lines, for verification and to obtain any required authorisation number.

3. Understand Claim Submission: Ask for clarification on the precise documentation and forms they need.

How it then works: You pay for your appointments at the clinic, and we will issue you a fully itemised invoice. You then submit this invoice directly to your insurance company for reimbursement of your treatment costs.
